Colorado Housing Grants Resources

Colorado State now makes housing and successful home ownership possible.  Colorado housing grants are now available especially for first-time buyers and for those with low to moderate family income.

Housing grants are also given out by foundations partially funded by government and private organizations.  These grants are awarded based on the state’s criteria, namely income qualifications and financial need.

The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is responsible for grant funding for various states nationwide.

Colorado Housing Grants Assistance Corporation

This is a private nonprofit agency established in 1982.  They provide supportive financial counseling and loan programs for every family in Colorado.  This Colorado housing grant vows not to discriminate based on race, age, sex, color, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or any status protected by state law.

Aurora Home Ownership Assistance Program (HOAP)

This was founded in 1984.  This program is dedicated to make affordable housing a realization for low to moderate income families.  They also conduct educational seminars that cover all the processes of owning a home.

HERO Alliance

This is a nonprofit organization providing resources, education, and assistance for people with disabilities.  This is a Colorado housing grant that have also been assisting residents with disabilities that have low income achieve home ownership.

The Myron Stratton Home Grants Program

Stratton endowment’s primary purpose is to maintain and operate residential facilities for the elderly poor throughout Colorado, primarily those located in El Paso County. Their secondary purpose is to provide support through direct grants and collaborative programs for the poor. The grants are considered when an organization submits Letter of Intent and receives approval from the Trustees to proceed with the application.

Douglas County Housing Partnership (DHCP)

This is a Multi-Jurisdictional Housing Authority that gives out Colorado housing grants.  This was formed as cooperative effort between local and county government and businesses to mainly address the issue of lack of affordable housing.

They operate with the financial support from jurisdiction of the City of Lone Tree, Town of Parker, Town of Castle Rock, and Douglas County as political subdivision and a public corporation in Colorado state.

Colorado Housing Grants Eligibility Requirements

As per Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation, here are some of the eligibility requirements for successful Colorado housing grants applications.

  1. Must be a first-time home buyer: First-time home buyer is someone who has not owned a home in 3 years.
  2. Income guidelines: To be examined and determined by the board of Trustees.
  3. Credit Requirements: No minimum credit score.
  4. Property must be in an eligible rural area.
